1. Create the ward
The bishop or a counselor should do this, because whoever creates the ward becomes its owner and data steward. Go to Set up your ward, sign in with Google or an email code, enter the ward name, stake, and meeting time, and accept the steward responsibilities. You’ll land on the Today page.
Ownership can be transferred later from Settings when a bishop is released.
2. Import the directory
Open People and choose Import. Jethro reads the member list you export from the Church’s leader and clerk tools, as either a PDF or a CSV. In those tools, open the member list, use its export or print option, and save the file to your device. Then upload it.
- You see a preview of every household before anything is saved, and you can uncheck rows.
- Only name, household, phone, email, address, birth year, gender, and calling are kept. Record numbers, full birthdates, and ordinance data are discarded even if the file contains them.
- Re-importing later updates existing people instead of duplicating them.
The clerk is often the right person for this step. If you invite the clerk first, they can do the import while you set up the rest.
3. Invite your leaders
Go to Settings → Invite leaders. Pick a role, optionally an organization, and either copy the link or type an email and Jethro sends it. Each link works for up to 20 people for 30 days and gives everyone who uses it that role, so make one link per role. Accepting an invite creates the membership on the spot; no approval step.
| Role | Give it to | What they see |
|---|---|---|
| Bishopric | Counselors. Also give this to the clerk and executive secretary if they help with callings. | Everything, including callings in progress and confidential notes. |
| Executive secretary | The executive secretary. | Agendas, appointments, announcements, the directory, and invites for non-leadership roles. Not callings or confidential notes unless also given Bishopric. |
| Clerk | Ward and assistant clerks. | Directory import, speaking records, meeting records, and the join code. Not callings or confidential notes unless also given Bishopric. |
| Ward council | Relief Society, Elders Quorum, Primary, Sunday School, and other council members. | Announcements, agendas without confidential items, activities for their organization, and the directory. |
| Organization leader | Young Men and Young Women advisors and presidencies. Pick the organization when you invite them. | Their organization's activities and youth roster. Youth activities they propose wait for bishopric approval. |
| Music | Music coordinator, chorister, organist. | Hymn selection for upcoming Sundays and the printed program. |
Roles add up. Someone can hold Clerk and Bishopric together. Adjust anyone’s roles later under Settings → People & roles.
There is also a ward join code on the Settings page for people you didn’t invite directly. Anyone who joins with the code waits as pending until a leader approves them from the Today page.
4. Plan your first Sunday
- Open Sunday and pick the next date. Choose hymns by number or title, add speakers with topics, and assign prayers.
- Add any sustainings or releases from the Callings board; they appear in ward business automatically with the standard wording.
- Approve announcements under Announcements and toggle which ones print on the program.
- Print the Program (a half-fold bulletin) and the Conducting sheet, or use the step-by-step conduct mode on a phone at the pulpit.
- Publish the meeting. That records the speakers in the speaker tracker and turns on the public digital program link you can share with the ward.
5. What runs on its own
- Every Monday morning, each leader gets an email digest of their open follow-up tasks.
- Activity reminders go to youth and parents on the schedule you set when you create the activity.
- Youth activities proposed by advisors show up on the bishopric’s Today page for approval before anyone is notified.
- The speaker tracker flags who hasn’t spoken in a long time when you pick speakers.
On a phone
- Sign in at myjethro.io in Safari or Chrome, then add it to your home screen. The home-screen app remembers you.
- If Google sign-in shows an error, you are probably inside another app’s built-in browser, such as Messages. Open the link in Safari, or use the email code instead.
- The conducting sheet works offline once you’ve opened it, in case the building has no signal.
Getting help
Email support@myjethro.io with what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead. A screenshot helps. If the app shows an error screen, include the reference code at the bottom of it.
